The EC3 tool, the BuildingTransparency.org website, and its underlying databases are under active development.

Your use of buildingtransparency.org, the EC3 tool, and all associated APIs is subject to this legal agreement between you and us (BuildingTransparency.org, its service providers, affiliates, and employees).

By logging in and using the site, you agree to:

– Conform to professional ethics, including either the NSPE Code of Ethics or AIA Code of Ethics, in your use of the site.

– Only use EC3 for sustainability purposes; and particularly to avoid actual or perceived anticompetitive practices such as coordinating pricing or embodied carbon declarations among competitors.

– Understand and accept the Privacy Notice and Confidential Information Notice.

– If you make use of the API(s), understand and accept the APIs Terms of Service

– Not enter information about persons under 16 years of age.

– Accept that buildingtransparency.org provides services on this site on an AS-IS basis, without warranties or guarantees of any kind.

– Expect to encounter changes, errors and omissions in both programming and data from time to time.  We test the tool and data extensively, analyze all problems reported to us via the in-app error reporting tools or Sponsor feedback sessions, and address them as promptly as our resources allow.

– Not seek to defeat, bypass, or misuse any privacy feature, security measure, or other function of EC3, except for purposes of reporting such problems to us.

EC3 2.0 Beta Addendum

Effective date: October 8, 2026

This Addendum applies to the EC3 2.0 Beta (the “Beta”). By signing in to and using the Beta, you agree to it in addition to the Building Transparency Terms of Use (https://www.buildingtransparency.org/terms-of-use/), the Privacy Notice and the Confidential Information Notice. You acknowledge and agree that:

  • The Beta is pre-release software. Features may be incomplete, may change or may be removed without notice, and updates are frequent.

  • The Beta may be unavailable or interrupted at any time, and no level of availability or support is guaranteed.

  • You are entering all data at your own risk. Use test or already-public data where possible.

  • Data, projects, uploads and settings created in the Beta may be reset, changed or deleted at any time, and may not carry over to the generally available release of EC3 2.0. Keep your own copy of anything you need.

  • Results and data shown in the Beta may be incomplete, may contain errors, or may differ from EC3 1.0. Differences can come from data migration that is still in progress. They can also come from methodology changes: for example, EC3 2.0 shows the GWP values reported in each EPD rather than uncertainty-adjusted GWP, and it applies one consistent GWP indicator (GWP-fossil or GWP-total) across records. Data cleanup is a third source of differences. You should not rely on Beta results for compliance, procurement, certification, public claims or other decisions without verifying them in EC3 1.0.

  • You can send feedback through the Feedback button in the Beta or via the Beta Survey. Building Transparency may use feedback you provide to improve EC3, without any obligation to you. We will not publish your name or organization alongside your feedback without your permission.

  • Beta accounts are personal and may not be shared. Building Transparency may change, suspend or end the Beta, or your access to it, at any time.

  • This Addendum applies only to the Beta and ends when EC3 2.0 becomes generally available. If it conflicts with the Terms of Use, this Addendum governs for the Beta.
