Building Transparency relies on our implementation & technology partners to advance our mission and expand the real-world impact of EC3. When users search EC3, they’re not just accessing a dataset—they are drawing on shared public infrastructure that requires ongoing stewardship. Each query is supported by a combination of advanced automation and human expertise, including parsing imperfect real-world EPDs, validating and correcting data, managing versions and duplicates, interpreting GWP so comparisons are meaningful, maintaining expert-informed category structures, and operating secure, reliable infrastructure to SOC 2 standards.

EC3 Enterprise Partnership
An EC3 enterprise partnership is a service for organizations that require more custom tool functionality in terms of data, API access, tools, and more. Services include:
Individual hosted instance of the EC3 tool on a dedicated server of their choosing
Dedicated Online & Biweekly User Support for multiple user groups within and outside of the Enterprise Partner company, as needed
Custom Branding, Login, User Interface & Workflow
Portfolio Level Tracking & Reporting
API User Partnership
(NEW February 2026!) Our API pricing is designed to ensure that higher-volume and commercial uses help sustain the public data infrastructure that benefits everyone—while preserving easy access for research, learning, and early innovation.
We continue to support free access to EC3 data through:
- Full use ofthe EC3 web application
- Basic, rate-limited API access
If you are using EC3 API for commercial purposes, in production applications, or for large-scale data integrations and analytics, you can request production access to the EC3 API. This access includes:
- Base annual access fee paid to Building Transparency
- Significantly higher API rate limits*
*Protective burst limits remain in place to ensure platform reliability, but thresholds are increased to accommodate production implementation and large-scale usage.
