Building Transparency is partnering with RIB Software to integrate its iTWO costX platform with EC3.
RIB Software is working to make engineering and construction more efficient and sustainable. Its iTWO costX product is a 6D BIM solution that enables businesses to lead the way in sustainability, with takeoff, cost estimating and embodied carbon accounting in the same program.
This partnership provides RIB Software customers with the ability to build in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. Now, users can directly import EC3 embodied carbon rates into iTWO costX with the click of a button.
Here’s how iTWO costX users can get started:
- Register for an EC3 account, then add an EC3 building to hold the data that you retrieve from the EC3 embodied carbon database.
- Create your embodied carbon rate library using the pre-existing embodied carbon rates. A code must be added for each element in the Notes section, as this will be used as the item code in iTWO costX.
- Download the details as a Building Element Report and the resulting Excel file can be imported directly into iTWO costX by going into System Administration, clicking the drop-down arrow of the Import button in the Rate Libraries section, choosing Import Embodied Carbon Rate Library from EC3, and selecting the relevant Excel file.
- Now, the EC3 rates are directly accessible in iTWO costX from the Rates panel on the left-hand side of the program and can be added into your embodied carbon estimate, allowing users to quickly and easily calculate the embodied carbon of multiple building components.
A report can also be generated to show an indicative estimate of both carbon and cost based upon chosen lifecycle stages.
